The 6 Steps To a Profitable Website

Building a profitable website is all about planning and preparation. Too many people get an idea for a website and immediately buy a domain name and build a site without first thinking it through. I used to be like this I had hundreds of websites and was constantly flitting from one to another without a plan. I now concentrate on less than 20 sites and my income has increased dramatically.

But to ensure that you can create and build websites which are going to be profitable for you there are 6 steps you will need to make. Certainly by sticking to the formula in this article you should soon see a rapid increase in the income these sites can earn for you. However before you actually start building any sites it is important that you get a folder along with some paper into which you will have sections for every site that you want to build. Although you can actually set this up on your PC believe me it is much easier for you as the folder is at hand at all times right beside you as you work.

The first step is to carry out Keyword Research. It is at this stage you will need to think about the niches and the sections that you will need to have. The niche you choose can be on any subject that you want, and as you will soon discover there are many niches which also have very profitable sub niches which you may wish to explore. Although Cars as your niche website would be good one about SUV's as a sub niche or even one on carburretors would be much more beneficial. The most important thing to remember about keyword research is that you need to find a good mix of keywords. Look for those which have very little competition against them and look for those that will provide you with a challenge when it comes to promoting your site.

The next step when it comes to creating and building a profitable website is planning. A lot of people forget about this stage and completely miss it out, you shouldn't. So you now need to get a piece of paper from your folder and jot down what the different areas of your site are going to be. It is during this time you need to decide just how you want your site to look and whether you want to have sub directories within it or just have separate sections within the site. Just by jotting down a few things and keeping a note of these will help you in the future as you will be able to see immediately what site models you have used previously work well and which ones haven't.

In the next step you will want to actually start to build your site. Remember we have just finished the planning stage and it was during this time that you made a decision as to what tool you would be using to build your site with. As you know there are building of site building tools now available, some you can get for nothing and others that are going to cost you a few hundred dollars. However for those of you that are just starting out I would suggest that you use WordPress. This site building tool is not only free but can be easily installed from many of the other websites Cpanel.

One of the biggest mistakes made by many people is when it comes to promoting their site after they have built it. What they will often do is just promote their site enough so that it gets indexed into various different search engines before they become bored with it and move on to the next project. STOP! Any promotion you do for any of your sites should be an ongoing task. The best thing you can do is spend a hour each day for at least the next two weeks on promoting your site.

A site will only survive if it receives traffic. The traffic it receives will come from a number of different sources. But in order for the traffic to know about the site you need to promote it properly. The more properly a site is promoted the more chances are that you will start to receive traffic from search engines. This kind of organic search traffic is completely free and is what any good website owner should be striving to achieve.

The main objective for nearly every webmaster today is monetization especially if they are looking to earn an income from their sites. But the biggest problem that many of these people have is that they monetizing them far too early. Often I find it much better if I leave the sites I have built for about 3 months before I actually montize them. Certainly it is not to your advantage to add Adsense immediately to any sites you build as this could seriously affect your page ranking and so reduce the amount of traffic that is going to be directed towards it and help you to earn money.

If you start to incorporate the these 6 basic steps into your site building routine you soon start to see the benefit. Along with the increased profits you find the confidence to take on bigger and more profitable projects.
