Have you ever met an idiot that is more successful than you are? We all have, right? When I am coaching a client, the person frequently says something along the lines of "I'm just as smart as (some famous Internet business guru), so why am I working so much harder yet making so much less than he is?"
Do you know the secret why not-so-smart Internet business owners are passing you up like you're sitting still? It may be from the amount of learning material out there. Even though you're learning a bunch, you're so confused you can't put it to use in an efficient manner.
Now you still have to get helpful information and do your best to learn what you need. But keep in mind that information is just a tool. There are other elements that are essential in building a profitable Internet business that many people pass by.
1) Being Action Oriented - Taking action is the real difference between the super-successful and the not-successful. These people simply absorb information and at their very best react to it. And with such an overwhelming supply of information, most of them are simply numbed by it.
Contrast this with the successful Internet business owners. When they get good information they act on it - as soon as they possibly can. The main reason why so many don't take action is because they are paralyzed by the prospect of failure. Add to that their mistaken belief that the next information nugget they come across will be the difference between success and failure, and it becomes obvious why their waiting has them stuck.
You may be in just such a situation. Here's what you do... Get straight on what needs to be done and do it. Start with what you must do first and don't be concerned with future tasks. And don't waste time taking in more information just in case.
2) Don't Doubt Yourself - No matter how much you think you're going to fail, stay focused on what you're doing. Sure you'll make mistakes. But an essential part of Internet business success is failing a few times, picking yourself up and dusting off, then learning from the experience. It's okay to make mistakes, just don't be too hard on yourself. Just find out what works and remember what didn't.
3) K.I.S.S. - Keep everything simple. There's no need to make growing a successful Internet business complicated. Don't get into the trap of always having too much going on and turning out work at a lesser quality than you're capable of.
Now that you know the pitfalls struggling Internet business hopefuls make, do your best to do the exact opposite. Don't take on more than you can handle. Do learn what you need to know, then take focused action. Then repeat the process for the next task at hand. You'll avoid working like a dog and getting nowhere.
4) Know Where the Money Is - It takes time to know your market, but it's time you must invest if you're serious about Internet business success. The first step is quite simply to open your eyes and look at what's going on around you. You need to keep your finger on the pulse of your market to know what's "hot." But that's only half of the equation.
Next you must know why it's a hot market. Get to know it on a visceral level. After you really get how the market thinks and what makes them buy, your Internet business will grow by leaps and bounds. Never guess what's going on. Find out the facts for yourself.
