The winter time can affect your vending machine sales. For some they will increase and for others there will be a decrease. There are many factors that can play into this. Some locations tend to see less foot traffic due to the colder season. This may be something you are willing to accept due to the amount of money that vending machine brings in overall.

There are many reasons why a particular vending machine location would see an increase in sales over the winter. For example those outside of retail stores are going to see more business. This is due to people out there shopping for holiday gifts. They are going to be out there more often than they normally would the rest of the year.

After Halloween the sales of candy in vending machines may decline. Most people will have enough of it on hand for a while to satisfy their sweet tooth. You may discover that sales of such vending machine items dips again after the first of the year. This is due to the number of people that decide not to consume sweets or to lose weight as part of their New Years resolution.

You can help to offset these losses though by changing what you offer for sale. Instead of so many choices of candy bars you may add something else that is healthier. If they have had enough of chocolate they may enjoy something salty. Those trying to lose weight may be a package of peanuts to help the get through the afternoon if their energy level is sluggish.

If you can anticipate such changes will be taking place for your vending machine, you will be successful. Pay close attention to the changing patterns of sales you aren't just scratching your head and wondering what happened. Some locations just aren't going to provide you with very good sales in the winter. This due to the facility being a seasonal location. For example a park isn't going to see too many people when it is two degrees out and the snow is blowing.

You need to keep your stock of vending machine items fresh all the time. You may need to cut back on how much you buy to adapt to slow levels of sales in the winter. You may need to buy more though if the machines are selling rapidly. Even if sales are slow you need to be checking on them at least once a week. You may discover that increased winter time sales means you have to go there several times a week though to prevent items from being completely sold out.

Make sure you are prepared to handle all of the various possibilities that can affect your vending machine business. You need to keep everyone that uses them happy so they will come back again. You also need to evaluate how well your vending machine business does for you all year long.

With this information you will be able to determine if you have a site that is worth hanging on to when things slow down. The amount of changes in the volume of sales over the winter will vary so it can't be predicted. If you don't feel that your vending machine is making as much money as it should, consider finding better locations for them to increase your sales.
