Selling Your Own Dream Not Someone Else's

There is so much hype about now days relating to the dream of working from home and running a home business. This usually involves setting up a website of their own and providing affiliate links for selling other peoples products for commission.

Now, don't get me wrong affiliated marketing sites, and selling products on the internet is what I do, and what I help other people do. I know there are scammers out there, and flim-flam artists trying to huckster people into "Australian Two Up" network marketing schemes (which generally have a half-life of ten months before word gets out), and not all the pre-packaged programs are crap.

Some are merely misguided, and more are simply mismatches with the people who buy them. Here's the real secret to running an internet based business, selling services or products:

Sell your dream, not someone else's. There is probably something you know, or something you can do, that people will spend money for. All the internet is, and all pay per click advertising does, is help you put a product out there for people to find.

Unless you are among the small percentage of people who are outstanding salesmen, you will never have the passion to sell a pre-packaged kit product that you would have for your own. If your focus is on selling your own products or skills, you will feel inspired to achieve greatness.

This means if you love to sew, sell patterns. If you are a carpenter or love woodwork, sell tools or even instruction videos to teach others your techniques. Find items you can source for bargain prices and put them on the internet for a great price to people in more remote areas. This will enable you to feel like you are sharing your passion and love for your products with the world and will give you more drive to make your home business happen.

Recognize that if you see an area of need within the market, others will feel the same need and will make their way to your website. As long as you are easy for consumers to find and you know how to target the right consumers, you can provide solutions while making an income. While you probably won't be raking in thousands of dollars a month, you will have a job working for yourself in the hours you desire for a decent income. And you never need worry about being fired!

When your job centers around something you like doing, you will feel a satisfaction about helping others who are like you. In this way, you win twice through making money and enjoying yourself while you are doing it.
