We have all heard the warnings about UV rays from tanning indoors and outdoors being harmful. The number of young people being diagnosed with skin cancer continues to be on the rise. As a result, many consumers are looking for saver alternatives. If they are at a high risk of skin cancer or their skin is extremely sensitive, UV free tanning many be something worth looking into.

There are two main ways in which spray on tans can be applied to the body. They offer an overall tan that looks very natural. You won't have to worry about looking orange or streaking like you normally do with most of those at home tanning sprays and lotions. The first method is airbrush tanning and the second takes place in a booth.

Airbrush tanning takes longer than the booth but not all taking salons offer the booths. They are very expensive to purchase while the airbrush equipment is quite affordable. Be prepared to be in a room with a technician though when you opt for the airbrush option. It can be intimidating if you aren't comfortable with it. You have the choice of wearing nothing at all, a bra and panties, or a bathing suit. Try to wear something old though so the spray won't damage your clothing.

The spray on tanning booths are more convenient and private. You can still choose to wear something in them if you want to. Most people want to be naked in a spray on tanning both. It will resemble a shower and you just step inside of it. You can place a shower cap on if you want to but the spray won't harm your head.

Another option is to use a UV free tanning booth. These are more expensive for the owner of the tanning salon to invest in, but they are definitely getting plenty of business. This is type of booth that you privately will step into so you may be more comfortable in the nude during the process. You don't have to wear any eye protection in this type of tanning booth as the mist won't harm them.

Once you have stepped inside of the UV free tanning booth, you will need to press the start button. You will be covered in a spray mist that lasts a few seconds. Once the mist has stopped you need to immediately turn around. In a few seconds the mist will start again and you can get the other side of your body covered. Allow the mist to dry for about one minute and then you can wipe off the excess. This will allow you to get dressed and back to your daily routine.

With these types of UV free tanning options, you won't need to frequent the tanning salon as often. The tan will last from 3 -10 days as it depends on the individual. As you use it more, you will find the tan lasts longer because you still have some of the base underneath it. You will want to make sure you exfoliate and that you keep your skin very moist with lotion as it will help your UV free tan last longer.

You can resume your normal activities after a session but you will want to wait up to 8 hours before you get wet with a shower or swimming. If you don't notice the results you want immediately, don't worry. It can take a couple hours for the full effect of the UV free tanning session to show up on your skin. This is a very easy way for you to have a beautiful tan without having to exposure yourself to harmful UV rays.
