If you think you are ready to start your vending machine business you need to make sure you haven't overlooked one very important issue - safety. This is a common area of the business that too many people fail to realize is even important so they are completely dismayed when an accident occurs or they find themselves named in a lawsuit. Don't let your hard work and the money you have invested in your vending machine business by wasted.

Vending machines are very heavy pieces of equipment and while they are durable they have been known to tip over. Make sure you are extremely careful when you are moving them or working on them so you don't get hurt. People tend to shake and hit vending machines in order to get free products or when it doesn't want to dispense what they have already paid for.

You should find a way to secure the vending machine to the ground or to a wall. This way it can't accidentally tip over. Even if the user of the vending machine is responsible for it happening, the amount of damage to your vending machine just isn't worth it. The time and money it will cost you to secure the vending machines in place is well worth it.

Look for vending machines that offer a very safe design for consumers. The newer models of machines take various issues into consideration but older ones don't. You may need to upgrade them to meet consumer safety guidelines. In the older soda machines, people often get their hands or arms injured when their drink doesn't dispense and they try to access it from the bottom of the vending machine.

It may sound crazy, but some small children have even ended up crawling inside of vending machines. The problem though is they can't get back out. This can require someone having to take the vending machine apart. This is often a problem that only happens with those types of vending machines that feature cranes to win prizes and toys.

The government has placed regulations on the new crane vending machines to prevent children from being able to do this. Additional hardware should have been added to older machines, but you will find plenty of them out there that don't have it installed. If you plan to purchase a used model of this type of vending machine, make sure you check for this part.

It is a good idea to place warning stickers on the vending machines you have. You can do this with written stickers or those that only show pictures. If a person sees them they will be less likely to shake the vending machine or to place any of their body parts inside of it. Consumer awareness is a big part of vending machine safety.

Your personal safety with the vending machines is important too. Never try to lift one by yourself. If you have to do any types of vending machine repairs you need to cut the power source. You don't want to risk getting hurt when high volts of electricity pass through your body. Even if you are trying to repair something fast and easy, it is worth the time to unplug it.
