Some people say article marketing doesn't work anymore. Which that might be true if you just write crap and expect people to love you for it. If you do it correctly it still works and could be one of your most powerful promotion strategies. Here are three common article marketing mistakes.
1. Not keeping the reason you write articles straight with the reason you use the articles you write to promote your business.
Even though there are many reasons to use articles to promote your business, writing the articles have only one reason.
Let's begin by discussing the purpose of promoting your business through article marketing. Articles can bring a lot of visitors to your site. No matter what topic your articles cover, you will be seen as an expert on that topic. While this is great, it can't be the sole reason for writing articles. So what should your focus be in writing articles?
Good value is what you should be giving readers with your article writing. Readers will know right away if you have any other agenda for your writing and they won't like it one bit. If you are writing articles this way, you are spinning your wheels.
If readers find good value in the articles you write, they will trust you so provide it for them. The resource box is the place to let them know you have a website with additional information.
2. Using less than an article's full potential.
After you write an article, then what do you do? Your next step is to make certain your resource box is enticing. It will do you no good if you produce marvelous articles but no one clicks the links in you resource box. Provide a reason for readers to want to click the link to your site.
Using your keywords as hyperlinks in your resource box is a good technique that will increase your articles effectiveness. This will not only have the effect of getting visitors to your site from direct clicks on the links but will help the rank of your site in the search engines indirectly.
Once your article is ready, you submit it to article directories. Then you are finished? NO.
This is where most people get it wrong. Then you must submit your article to individual web publishers. Most of the people visiting article directories are just people submitting their own articles. Individual web publishers will post your article on their websites or submit it to their lists were actual people will read your article.
3. Writing useless articles that help no one.
If you write articles that aren't helpful two things are going to happen. And neither of them are going to help your internet business.
The first is that readers will not trust you if they find your article of no help to them after reading it. Of course, they may not even finish reading it. They will very likely just click away and find something that is of more value.
The second is that no one is going to put your article on their website. By putting your article on their website they are putting their own reputation on the line. If they put up a crappy article no one is going to trust them. So you won't get many links from the article either. Don't waste your time.
Article marketing isn't dead. Far from it. Doing it right takes more time but there are great benefits to be realized from it.
